4 July - Independence Day

Join us to celebrate the 242nd anniversary of the Second Continental Congress' Declaration of Independence at an afternoon/evening BBQ:

Exact location, time and cost is being finalized. Please indicate below if you wish to attend and we will follow up with additional details.

5 July - A Thames' view of London

One of the best ways to see London is by boat along the River Thames. Join us for a Citycruises boat tour through the heart of London.

We'll meet at Westminster Pier and depart at 12 Noon for a 70 minute cruise heading east along the Thames, passing through central London and ending in Greenwich where we'll make our way to a local pub for a lunch around 1:30pm.

After lunch you can spend time seeing a number of tourist sites in Greenwich - most notably the Prime Meridian at the Royal Observatory, the Royal Naval College and the historic and restored Cutty Sark ship. Greenwich is also a great place for window shopping and exploring its streets and markets. Or head back toward central London for more sightseeing.

Citycruises has extended to our group a 25% discount on tickets. Prices below reflect the discount and are as follows:

For a one-way ticket from Westminster to Greenwich:

Adult: £ 9.57

Child: £6.00

For a hop-on, hop-off ticket that allows you to get on and off the boat at any of four piers and make the boat ride a round-trip experience - using it to return from Greenwich back to London:

Adult (16+): £14.07

Child (5-15): £9.00

Family – up to three kids travel free: £28.13

Ewan & Greg plan to buy one-way tickets and will take the London Underground to return from Greenwich into London after lunch but feel free to buy a hop-on, hop-off ticket if you'd prefer to take the boat back into town.

5 July - Strictly Ballroom in the West End

Join us in the evening for a West End (the London equivalent of New York City's Broadway) performance of Baz Luhrmann's "Strictly Ballroom - The Musical."

Based on Luhrmann’s divinely silly 1992 film, this story about rebellion and repression in the frothy world of ballroom dance is a much-loved hit. When maverick Scott revolts against the rigid rules imposed by dance supremo Barry Fife (Gerard Horan), the latter smells revolution and stamps on the upstart as hard as a patent leather shoe will allow. But Scott finds an unlikely ally in humble outsider Fran and together they wow the Pan-Pacific Championships by dancing from the heart. It’s David and Goliath meets Cinderella, all wrapped up in sequins, satin and hairstyles so rigid they could compete on their own.

£45pp for 6 or more people; £39.50pp for 10 or more people; and £35pp for 25 or more people.

A note about this group ticket purchase: we spoke to the box office and tickets will be in Rows R and S of the stalls (the equivalent of the orchestra in US theatres). The box office explained that there is a steep rake in this theatre so the view from these seats will be good. There are seats located closer to the stage, but they can't be included in a group purchase so they are more expensive. If you wish to still see the show with us on July 5, but want to purchase your own tickets to get closer to the stage, please feel free to do that. We're also happy to purchase the tickets for you and you can pay us back.
